What I Handle

From the first demand letter through discovery, mediation, and — when it's the right call — trial or arbitration.

Business & Commercial Litigation

Contract and partnership disputes, business torts, fiduciary-duty claims, and founder and shareholder conflicts — for companies and the people who run them.

Employment Litigation

Executive separations, wrongful termination, discrimination and retaliation claims, wage-and-hour disputes, and pre-litigation strategy — on both sides of the table.

Class & Complex Actions

Consumer and employment class actions and multi-party litigation, from case evaluation and certification through settlement approval and administration.

About

Russell Taylor

I try cases. Contract disputes, founder fallouts, fraud, unfair competition, employment claims, consumer class actions — in state and federal court, in arbitration, and on appeal.

Most of my clients are businesses and the people who start and run them — founders, startups, executives, and established companies. For them, litigation decisions are business decisions. Before we spend a dollar, you will know what winning looks like and what it should cost to get there. Some cases should settle early. Some should be tried. Knowing the difference is most of the job — and you will get my honest read at every stage.

I am also of counsel at Nassiri & Jung LLP in San Francisco, where I practiced before opening this firm. Earlier, I practiced at Farella Braun + Martel LLP and clerked for Judge Monroe G. McKay of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and Justice Monica M. Márquez of the Colorado Supreme Court.

I graduated Order of the Coif and magna cum laude from Duke University School of Law, where I served as Executive Editor of the Duke Law Journal and received the faculty's Advocacy Award. By graduation, I had already argued in state and federal courts — including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, which praised my "impressive performance at oral argument."

Approach

How I Work

Direct attention

You hire me, you get me. Every filing, every strategy call, every court appearance — no hand-offs to someone you've never met.

Candor first

You'll hear my honest read on your case early — strengths, weaknesses, and what the fight will cost. If your case is weak, you'll hear it from me before you spend money on it.

Built lean

Modern tools and low overhead mean big-firm work product without big-firm billing. Hourly, flat, and contingency arrangements, matched to the matter.
